A Halloween game in the world of Gumball

Guai in soffitta! (Trouble in the Attic) is an official Halloween game set in The Amazing World of Gumball, which I came up with and drew for Boing. It was released in October 2026 on Boing in Italy and Spain, where it is called Caos en el desván.

Boing asked me for a Halloween game set in Gumball’s world. The idea came from a simple question: what if, above the Wattersons’ bedroom, there was a dark attic full of floors and surprises?

Boing's request, a Halloween game in the world of Gumball, and the one-finger gameplay: they walk on their own, tap to jump, hold to slow down

From Gumball’s house to the attic

The game starts in places every fan of the show knows well: the Wattersons’ living room and bedroom. Then you climb, and above the bedroom a dark attic opens up, floor after floor, going up and up.

How to play

You pick Gumball, Darwin or Anais. The characters walk on their own and turn back when they bump into a wall or an obstacle: one finger is all you need. Tap to jump, hold to slow down. On every floor you have to dodge the traps and reach the ladder on the other side to climb up.

Traps and rivals

The attic looked normal… then I added the traps: spikes, springs, crates, lava, acid, stone blocks and even Clayton. And every now and then one of the 16 rivals shows up on a floor, picked at random among Gumball’s friends.

Pumpkins and animation

Every floor has pumpkins to collect: you use them to keep playing when you lose. The first time you need 3, the second time 6, and so on. The more pumpkins you collect, the higher you can climb.

The characters are animated in pixel art, one frame at a time, in the game’s clean style: black outlines and flat colours. I animated Gumball and Darwin, while Edo animated Anais and the rivals.

The result

A fast climb full of surprises, played with one finger on Boing’s website and app.
